PROGRAM NOTE

Displace (2001) was written for the Eppes Quartet. The work is based on a short solo flute passage taken from the orchestral version of Ravel's Pavane pour une infante defunte. This melancholy melody is freely treated in different musical textures over the pieces seven minute duration.
