PROGRAM NOTE
| Shabby Chic (2001) was partly inspired by the campy home design TV show of the same name. Over the course of this ten-minute work for flute/piccolo, clarinet, percussion, piano, violin, and cello, characteristic elements of modernism and minimalism are freely developed, combined, re-arranged, superimposed, and juxtaposed in an attempt, as the title implies, to dress the other up. |
