BOONDOGGLE (2004-5)
for violin, cello and piano

PROGRAM NOTE

Boondoggle. In the past few years I have become more and more attracted to words for the musical ideas they evoke or hold; not their definition. Often it is simply the shape of the letters, how the word looks on the page, or how it sounds that catches my attention. And from this, on a very personal level, a musical association is derived. Boondoggle is the most abstract title I have used to date and I find it virtually impossible to explain verbally the musical connections to the word itself.
